When Our Cross Gets To Heavy
(Matthew 11:28-30)
Come unto me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
(NKJV)
This is a vision I had, when meditating on the Cross of Christ, and its many benefits we have in trusting in the work he has done for us.
This short vision that I had, is what inspired this writing.
I was sitting in my chair feeling the glow of the Holy Spirit all around me. I had been having difficulty with the cold weather this winter and was trying to warm myself while praying when this vision came to me. I saw a woman walking with her cross which was so heavy and loaded down. From a distance it looked quite beautiful.
When I looked closer it was piled high with trinkets, and other trash gathered all around it. Tired out from carrying her cross she saw a flat rock ahead of her, so she decided to stop there and rest.
Approaching the rock she could see it was just right for her to climb upon. The sun was brightly shining upon the rock which caused a peaceful glow. She seemed to hear the rock speak come here my child and rest on me.
When she stopped she had great difficulty removing the cross from her shoulder. On this cross were many things she had gathered in her Christian walk with her Lord. Crawling out from under the cross was quite difficult as it was loaded with so many trinkets, pretty lanterns, trash tangled up on the bottom making it difficult to move with her as she walked. There were many bruises and cuts on her shoulder.
While I was watching the women on the rock, she looked so relaxed and so peaceful. Basking on the rock of ages and drinking in the light of God.
I asked the Lord why is this women’s cross so heavy? The Lord began to show me that when we look to Him as our Lord, our cross is light. When we put our faith in ministries, and teachings, our cross can become a burden to hard to carry.
As I drew in closer to look at the cross. It had many different books on it. There were pretty lanterns, and lots of christian bling that was sold to her in the market place. As I looked for her bible it was underneath all of the other books. I doubt if she could have found it if she wanted to look at it. There was fools gold, mans rules, mans ways, and mans message.
The fancy bandwagons passing by had placed all of their pretty lanterns trimmed in gold and silver.
All the tatters of being caught up again in legalism, the law of the word.
Promises of riches had blinded her eyes and has tangled up so much trash on the bottom of her cross, making it difficult to move forth in her walk. It makes it difficult to move in the Holy Spirit when we become entangled in teachings that only harp on one thing. It stunts our growth and development, unless JESUS is our only focus, the only one our eyes adore. If not it all becomes to hard to bear.
Whatever has happened to the pure undefiled Gospel of Christ that we received when we met JESUS at His cross? O’ foolish Christians who has bewitched you, that you would rather believe a lie and not the truth.
After all her cross was quite beautiful with it many decorations.
